(00:00:00.091): Hello, fearless one. (00:00:01.351): I just want you to know today that even when the choices you made didn't turn out (00:00:05.292): the way you expected, God promises that they will work out for your good. (00:00:09.433): Hi, I'm Nerissa Golden. (00:00:11.433): I'm a mother, author, (00:00:12.734): strategist, (00:00:13.314): and entrepreneur with one goal of encouraging you to discover your fearless identity (00:00:18.235): in Christ. (00:00:19.155): I get a kick out of helping my friends and clients unlock the value in their gifts in business. (00:00:24.376): And for the next few minutes, I want to encourage you to do the same. (00:00:27.517): Let's go. (00:00:28.714): Have you ever felt paralyzed by too much advice? (00:00:31.876): You open LinkedIn, (00:00:32.956): you watch YouTube videos, (00:00:34.397): you doom scroll on Instagram, you read business books and listen to podcasts. (00:00:39.700): Everywhere you turn, there are voices, each with their own opinions. (00:00:43.882): One expert tells you to invest, another says hold on to your money. (00:00:47.924): One says AI will replace your business, another says AI is just another tool. (00:00:52.547): Scale, don't scale. (00:00:54.588): Hire, don't hire. (00:00:56.803): Niche down, diversify. (00:00:59.385): The marketplace has never been louder. (00:01:02.607): The challenge isn't a lack of information. (00:01:05.669): It's deciding which voice deserves your attention. (00:01:09.032): When there are so many competing opinions, (00:01:11.313): it's easy to convince yourself that the safest option is to wait. (00:01:16.117): Wait until you know more. (00:01:17.578): Wait until the market settles. (00:01:19.259): Wait until the economy improves. (00:01:21.701): Wait until you feel more confident. (00:01:24.395): But here's the problem. (00:01:25.876): We don't learn while standing still. (00:01:28.256): We learn by movement. (00:01:30.537): One of my favorite promises in scripture is found in Romans 8, 28. (00:01:34.919): And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, (00:01:39.780): to those who are called according to his purpose. (00:01:43.361): Notice what Paul doesn't say. (00:01:45.662): He doesn't say everything that happens is good. (00:01:48.682): Failure certainly isn't good, rejection isn't good, redundancy isn't good, loss isn't good. (00:01:55.570): But God has an extraordinary ability to redeem experiences that we never would have chosen. (00:02:01.396): He doesn't waste them. (00:02:02.918): He works through them. (00:02:04.640): I like to say he is extravagantly economical. (00:02:09.093): One of my favorite examples is found in 2 Kings. (00:02:21.823): Their situation looked impossible. (00:02:24.546): They concluded that if they stayed where they were they would die. (00:02:28.229): If they attempted to go back into their city they would definitely die (00:02:31.692): as they had no food there. (00:02:33.293): And if they walked towards the enemy camp there was a high probability they would be killed. (00:02:38.758): But they also had a bit of hope that maybe they would be fed as well. (00:02:43.222): Since they figured death was imminent either by starvation or the enemy they decided (00:02:47.886): to make a move. (00:02:49.775): What they didn't know was that God would use the sound of four weak, hungry, (00:02:54.397): diseased men to convince an entire army that a great force was coming against them. (00:03:00.020): The enemy fled. (00:03:01.480): The city was saved. (00:03:03.301): The miracle wasn't revealed while they were sitting. (00:03:06.303): It was revealed while they were walking. (00:03:09.564): Hey, folks! (00:03:35.380): I think there's a lesson here for every entrepreneur. (00:03:38.441): We spend so much time trying to make the perfect decision, (00:03:42.423): the perfect strategy, (00:03:43.544): the perfect product, the perfect launch, the perfect investment. (00:03:48.102): Meanwhile, nothing moves. (00:03:50.042): Business doesn't reward perfection. (00:03:52.423): It rewards learning. (00:03:54.763): One of the most valuable concepts in modern business is A-B testing. (00:03:59.064): You create two versions. (00:04:00.464): You change one variable. (00:04:01.965): Then you watch what happens. (00:04:04.105): One headline performs better. (00:04:05.966): One price converts more customers. (00:04:08.206): One email gets opened more often. (00:04:10.867): Every test gives you information. (00:04:13.509): And here's the important part. (00:04:15.530): A failed test isn't failure. (00:04:17.790): It's data. (00:04:19.210): You've eliminated one possibility. (00:04:21.831): You're closer to the answer than you were yesterday. (00:04:25.552): We need to see life the same way. (00:04:28.033): Every conversation teaches you something. (00:04:30.893): Every client teaches you something. (00:04:33.074): Every launch teaches you something. (00:04:35.314): Every disappointment teaches you something. (00:04:38.469): Even when the outcome isn't what you wanted, (00:04:41.272): you've gained information you couldn't have discovered any other way. (00:04:45.716): Too many people see only two possible outcomes, success or failure. (00:04:50.961): God often sees something different, transformation. (00:04:55.305): Every experience is shaping your wisdom, (00:04:57.887): your judgment, your discernment, your resilience, your capacity to lead. (00:05:04.327): Think about the pandemic. (00:05:06.187): No strategic plan anticipated it. (00:05:08.768): Businesses around the world had to abandon carefully researched strategies almost overnight. (00:05:14.529): Some businesses disappeared, others adapted. (00:05:17.730): Many discovered entirely new ways of serving customers. (00:05:21.650): Remote working, digital consulting, online education, global collaborations, AI accelerating. (00:05:30.688): What looked like disruption became innovation, (00:05:34.632): not because the pandemic was good, it wasn't, but because people kept moving. (00:05:40.737): Movement revealed opportunities that standing still never could. (00:05:45.554): This is why I believe courage isn't about always making the right decision. (00:05:50.365): It's about making the next fateful decision. (00:05:53.875): Too often we ask God to reveal the entire journey before we take the first step. (00:05:58.358): But throughout scripture, God usually only reveals the next step, then the next, then the next. (00:06:04.381): Faith grows through movement. (00:06:07.043): Wisdom grows through experience. (00:06:09.624): Discernment grows through testing. (00:06:12.446): And confidence grows because you've seen God's faithfulness before. (00:06:17.509): We say hindsight is 20-20. (00:06:20.237): We can connect the dots only after we have distance from the experience and (00:06:24.578): that can take years at times. (00:06:27.099): That unexpected job prepared us for another opportunity. (00:06:30.679): That difficult client taught us boundaries. (00:06:33.500): That failed business taught us systems. (00:06:36.300): That rejection redirected us towards something better. (00:06:40.281): What once looked random now makes sense. (00:06:44.054): Steve Jobs famously said that you cannot connect the dots looking forward. (00:06:48.435): You can only connect them looking backwards. (00:06:51.816): As believers, we have an added confidence. (00:06:54.737): We don't simply believe the dots eventually connect. (00:06:58.178): We believe there is a God who has been present through every one of them. (00:07:02.520): That changes everything. (00:07:04.320): It gives us permission to move, to experiment, to adapt, to learn, to pivot. (00:07:09.947): Not because we're certain of every outcome, (00:07:12.749): but because we're confident in the one who walks with us. (00:07:16.412): He has promised that he will never leave us or forsake us. (00:07:19.914): You cannot surprise God. (00:07:21.735): You also cannot disappoint him. (00:07:24.037): He knows you better than you know yourself. (00:07:26.859): All he asks is that you surrender your plans to him and allow him to guide you. (00:07:32.983): Well, how do I even know that I've heard God's voice? (00:07:35.625): How do I know that it's not just my idea? (00:07:38.127): Great questions. (00:07:39.742): I love to tell my children that God speaks English just like you do. (00:07:43.785): So he won't speak to you in Italian when he knows you only speak English. (00:07:47.808): He knows how to get you to hear him. (00:07:50.830): What you need to do is trust that he is always with you, (00:07:54.552): that God always wants the best for you, (00:07:57.014): and that your very steps are ordered by him, (00:08:00.096): and that you know how to hear the voice of God. (00:08:04.339): So when you feel led to go left and there are no hindrances, you move left. (00:08:09.644): When you feel a hesitation in your gut, pause and assess. (00:08:14.268): What do I need to know about this direction I am planning to take? (00:08:17.991): Get all the info you can about the direction and put in place (00:08:21.134): the corrective measures which gave you pause. (00:08:24.537): Speak to a trusted friend or mentor to get their feedback. (00:08:28.440): You do not have to trust in your own wisdom or experience. (00:08:31.562): Get the counsel of others. (00:08:33.744): So today, if you're waiting for certainty before taking action, this is your reminder. (00:08:38.763): Start with the belief that God is with you and he wants you to win. (00:08:43.067): Take the next fateful step that is visible before you. (00:08:46.911): Run the experiment. (00:08:48.332): Launch the idea. (00:08:49.774): Have the conversation. (00:08:51.616): Test the assumption. (00:08:53.257): Gather the data. (00:08:54.879): Because even when the result isn't what you hoped for, it is still working for your good. (00:09:00.843): Remember, you are already blessed because your identity is secure in Christ. (00:09:06.365): As you take faithful action, you become fruitful, developing wisdom through experience. (00:09:12.008): You multiply as your learning creates greater value for others. (00:09:16.790): And you exercise dominion by stewarding every lesson, (00:09:20.612): every setback, and every opportunity with courage. (00:09:24.413): Nothing is wasted in God's hands, not even the detours. (00:09:28.984): You are absolutely his favorite. (00:09:31.125): Live Fearless.
