Back to basics

In the late 2000s I was living on the island of St. Kitts. As a new wife and mother to a sweet little girl, I wanted a way to share what I was discovering. My first blog, evolved from a weekly email I sent to friends and family to update them on life. In it, I shared encouragement and also things I was learning as an entrepreneur and the experience of living on a new island.

Over the years, blogging and writing have helped me provide for my family and support the causes and people that are important to me.

But I confess that along the way, I lost the simple desire to write just because… I know the power of words and I have wielded them to effect change in a myriad of ways. But I have longed to simply write just because.

I’ve stripped back this website to focus on getting back to the basics of writing. I have all of my old content, but at this point I won’t restore them to the site. I want to see what can become of this space if I dare to give it attention without all the bells and whistles.

Yes, a whole lot of living has happened since 2000 and so you are sure to get my thoughts on entrepreneurship, parenting, Caribbean life, the world, and faith. But more than anything, I want to write so my own joy is full and hopefully, others will find a bit of joy and much hope when they come across this blog.

Here’s to new beginnings.

About Nerissa

I’m an author, marketer, and business coach who writes at the intersection of curiosity and strategy. Whether it’s AI, entrepreneurship, faith, culture, or the future of work, I explore what’s shaping our world to help individuals, organisations, and companies make better decisions. My goal is to turn insights into action – sparking conversations that lead to growth, innovation, and greater impact, especially in the Caribbean and wherever change is happening.
