Professional Bio
Nerissa Golden writes and teaches about courage, calling, and building work that matters.
Nerissa Golden is an author, teacher, and entrepreneur whose work explores courage, calling, and the responsibility of turning ideas into meaningful work.
Across more than twenty-five years she has built businesses, media platforms, and national communications initiatives across the Caribbean and the United Kingdom. Yet the thread connecting everything she does is writing and teaching. Through books, essays, courses, and storytelling, she challenges readers and entrepreneurs to think boldly about their purpose and build work that creates lasting impact.
Golden writes both fiction and non-fiction, often blending the two traditions to explore deeper truths about faith, resilience, identity, and the choices that shape our lives. Her work speaks to people who sense they are called to more and are ready to live and build with greater courage.
She grew up moving between Caribbean islands as the daughter of a preacher, an upbringing that shaped her belief that ideas, faith, and community can change lives. In small churches where her siblings often made up the entire worship team, she learned early how to write plays, choreograph performances, organise programmes, and turn limited resources into meaningful experiences for others.
Those early lessons in creativity and service became the foundation of her life’s work.
In 1997 she launched her first communications and public relations company and later founded Goldenmedia, a communications and digital strategy agency that operated for more than twenty years. Through Goldenmedia she led iconic and transformational campaigns for national institutions, regional organisations, and international brands, while also supporting the growth of Caribbean creative and entrepreneurial sectors.
Her work has included collaborating with Caribbean filmmakers, entertainers, and technology entrepreneurs, helping them strengthen their visibility, structure their brands, and reach wider audiences through strategic storytelling and media engagement.
In 2014 she founded Discover Montserrat, which has grown into one of the island’s most credible and consistent platforms for news, culture, and community storytelling. The publication was created to document Montserrat’s stories and ensure that the voices, achievements, and perspectives of the island and its diaspora remain visible.
Golden’s work has also extended deeply into cultural leadership and community development. She served as Executive Director of the Montserrat Arts Council and previously sat on its board, supporting the development of the island’s creative sector and national cultural programming.
She has also contributed to several national initiatives including the Montserrat Tourism Stakeholders Committee, the Fibre Optic Task Force, and as a founding member of the Montserrat ICT Association, supporting the growth of the island’s digital and innovation ecosystem.
Her commitment to community impact has included involvement with initiatives such as Pink Ribbon Charity Montserrat, supporting breast cancer awareness and patient support, and the Alliouagana Festival of the Word, which celebrates Caribbean literature, storytelling, and cultural dialogue.
Golden also served as the first Director of Information and Communications for the Government of Montserrat, helping lead national messaging during periods of volcanic crisis and recovery. The experience deepened her understanding of leadership, resilience, and the power of clear communication when communities are navigating uncertainty.
Today Golden focuses primarily on writing and teaching. She is the author of Live Fearless: A Christian Entrepreneur’s Guide to Life and Business, a book that encourages readers to move beyond fear and build lives and ventures rooted in faith, courage, and purpose.
In 2025 she founded Rebel Rock Media Ltd., a UK-based media and strategic advisory company focused on helping individuals and organisations turn ideas into influence, intellectual property, and long-term impact.
Golden is a mother of four and continues to write, teach, and develop stories and ideas that help individuals and communities build lives marked by purpose, creativity, and legacy.
