Use Stories to Connect With Your Customers
Your first response may be, but I’m not a storyteller. I beg to differ.
Remember when you were a child and you got into trouble with your mom, dad or teacher. Your mind immediately begins to conjure up what you can say to get out of the punishment. It is a natural response. I did it but this is why you shouldn’t punish me. You made up a story. In fact, in the Caribbean when a nice way to say someone is lying is to say “you a tell story!”
We all do it innately. Because you’ve never published a book or even a blog or an exceptionally long Facebook post doesn’t mean you don’t know how to.
Billionaire philanthropist Richard Branson says it this way “you can’t succeed at entrepreneurship without being a storyteller.”
Do you want to succeed as an entrepreneur?
I believe you do. Telling a good story and using it to illustrate a point, brings that point to life.
Use it to explain how you create your products. Was it a parent or someone in the community who shared their skills with you? What made you decide not to make it a side gig but turn it into a full business? There are stories you have that no one else can tell. You can share without giving away the ingredients in your secret sauce. Stories are a powerful way to connect with your customers.
